Welcome to Calatech

Let's get your new phone set up.

Eight short steps, one at a time. Do them in order and nothing gets left behind.

iPhone

Before you start

  • Charge both phones and connect to Wi-Fi.
  • Know your Apple Account password and your old phone's passcode.
  • Back up WhatsApp on your old phone: WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Chat Backup → Back Up Now.

Don't wipe your old phone yet. You'll need it for codes in steps 4 and 5.

iPhone

Move your things across

  • From an iPhone: turn on the new one and hold it next to your old one. Quick Start does the rest.
  • From an Android: when your iPhone asks, choose Move Data from Android, then open Move to iOS on the old phone.
iPhone

SIM or eSIM

  • Physical SIM: move it across with a SIM tool.
  • eSIM: your iPhone offers to transfer it during setup. If it doesn't, your network can move it.

Sign back into your email

A transfer moves your email accounts across, but often not their passwords. If Mail is quiet or asks for a password:

  • Go to Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts, tap the account and enter the password again.
  • Not listed? Tap Add Account.
  • Use the Gmail or Outlook app? Open it and sign in there.
  • Work email may need a code from your IT team or authenticator app.
iPhone

WhatsApp, banking and two-step codes

  • WhatsApp: sign in with your number and restore the backup from step 1.
  • Banking apps: sign in again. Most ask to register the new phone, often with a code to the old one.
  • Authenticator apps: move them across before going further. Each has its own transfer option.
iPhone

Lock it down

  • Set up Face ID and a passcode.
  • Turn on Settings → your name → Find My → Find My iPhone.
  • Turn on Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Stolen Device Protection.
iPhone

Your old phone

Once everything's on your new phone:

  • Sign out of your Apple Account: Settings → your name → Sign Out. This turns off Find My.
  • Then erase it: Settings → General → Transfer or Reset iPhone → Erase All Content and Settings.
iPhone

Battery care

  • Keep Settings → Battery → Charging → Optimised Battery Charging on. iPhone 15 and later can also stop at 80%.
  • Avoid heat: car dashboards, sunny windowsills, charging under a pillow.
Android

Before you start

  • Charge both phones and connect to Wi-Fi.
  • Know your Google account password and your old phone's PIN.
  • Back up WhatsApp: WhatsApp → Settings → Chats → Chat backup → Back up.

Don't wipe your old phone yet. You'll need it for codes in steps 4 and 5.

Android

Move your things across

  • From an Android: during setup, choose Copy apps & data, by cable or wirelessly.
  • Samsung Galaxy: use Smart Switch. It's built in.

  • Gmail: tap your profile picture, then Add another account.
  • Samsung Email: open it and enter each password again.
  • Outlook or Yahoo? Sign in again inside the app.
  • Work email may need a code from your IT team.

  • WhatsApp: restore your backup from Google Drive when it asks.
  • Banking apps: sign in again. Most ask to register the new phone, often with a code to the old one.
  • Authenticator apps: move them across before going further. Each has its own transfer option.
Android

Lock it down

  • Set a screen lock and add your fingerprint.
  • Turn on Find My Device. Galaxy owners: Find My Mobile too.
Android

Your old phone

Once everything's on your new phone:

  • Remove your Google and Samsung accounts: Settings → Accounts.
  • Then factory reset it.
Android

Battery care

  • Keep Adaptive Battery on.
  • Galaxy: turn on Protect battery so it doesn't sit at 100% overnight.
  • Avoid heat: car dashboards, sunny windowsills, charging under a pillow.
